Royal Icing Classes
After being totally inspired during my classes over in the UK, my latest classes and workshops have been all about Royal Icing. Royal Icing has made a massive come-back, and is proving to be one of the most popular subjects for recent classes.
Royal Icing is a different skill from other forms of cake decorating, and can seem daunting to people who haven’t tried it before. Most of the piping is freehand, and can take a while to get into the flow! But the students in the last two classes have done outstanding work, and it just shows that anyone can do it with the right help!

I was delighted to teach a class recently in Galway in “Stuff4Cakes“. We were very ambitious and decided to get the girls to create a three tier wedding cake in just one day! I was thrilled with the results as they all produced amazing cakes.
We taught the class some basic skills, such as stacking a cake, and covering with fondant, and we also decorated them using Patchwork Cutters. I recently
attended a class in the UK and am now an accredited Patchwork Cutters tutor. Hopefully there will be many more classes and demonstrations showing you how to make the best of these cutters. You can produce some fantastic cakes once you know how!

Royal Icing Classes
Only a few days left until my latest Royal Icing classes begin! As a teacher and passionate sugarcrafter, I feel that I owe it to myself and my students to keep up to date and to learn and improve my own skills. Over the years I have invested much of what I have earned through teaching back into reeducating myself. So I just got back from the UK after completing a number of classes. I had such a good time and was able to brush up on some old and new techniques. I also took some classes to become accredited as an official Patchwork Cutters Tutor and Demonstrator. It’s amazing what you can do with these products once you know the tips, tricks and secrets behind using them! 3HBWSCKAHKJ
Athlone Sugarcrafters is delighted to provide information about a hugely popular course starting in Athlone on March 11th at 7:30pm. These will be held for 6 weeks, and you will learn some beautiful techniques that you can use to make elegant, classy cakes. These classes will be held in “The Venue”, Athlone.

Workshops With Lorraine McKay
We are excited to have booked Lorraine McKay to visit Athlone next year for some workshops. Lorraine is a successful, award winning Sugarcrafter who specializes in modelling.
The classes will be held in the Venue, Athlone from 19th-23rd September 2013.

Free Sugarcraft Demo and Chocolate Workshop This Weekend!
Athlone Sugarcrafters will be in Allens on Church Street this weekend for a FREE Sugarcraft demo. Betty will be in Allens demonstrating different seasonal ideas, as well as answering all of your baking and Sugarcraft questions. Don’t miss it! 11am-5pm this Saturday December 15th!
On Sunday 16th, Betty will be holding a Chocolate Extravaganza workshop in Decobake Athlone.
Learn how to make this fantastic Chocolate Cake.The base of the cake will be a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, the top part will be dummies which can be lifted off. All wrapped up in glorious White Chocolate cocoform and decorated with Sparkly Christmas Roses. All materials and lunch are supplied.
Fee €120.000. Non-refundable deposit of €60.00 will secure a place.
Athlone Sugarcrafters provided an entertaining and informative Belgian Chocolate Cake demo in Athlone. The 25lb of Belgian Chocolate was skillfully crafted to create a beautiful and tasty masterpiece!
The cake was then presented to David Oliver who received it on behalf of the Mater Hospital Cancer Care Unit in Dublin.
Athlone Community Radio was also on hand to record some of the action!
This cake was a 6 tier chocolate biscuit cake made with couverture Belgian chocolate, and the paste was also make with white Belgian chocolate.

Advanced BirdCage Cake Class
The advanced students in Athlone Sugarcrafters October classes made some amazing cake creations. The theme was a “Birdcage Cake”, and you can see that the students really got to work at showcasing their individual styles and taste.
